 Meet the owners

Our Mantra; Never regret the things you have done only the opportunities you let pass by.

We were once people who lived a very normal staid existence, responsible secure employment, mortgage and the like.  That was until one year whilst enjoying a holiday in the resort of Didim Turkey we decided to be adventurous.  Our daughter had attained the age of maturity, chronologically at least, and was turning into one of us, in that she had a secure responsible job, mortgage and was self sufficient.  The timing was right to break the monotony and live as opposed to exist.

So we turned away from the Rat Race of the UK.  After three years in Turkey, for a variety of reasons, the time had come for us to move on but it wasn’t just us by then.  We had accumulated four beautiful dogs, each of whom have a story of abandonment and abuse to tell, who felt that a life with us was far better than a life on the streets of Didim.  So the quandary became where to go, we looked briefly at returning to the UK, could we afford to take the dogs? What would we do there? Where would we go? Could we achieve a satisfactory lifestyle? After this fleeting thought which was very quickly dismissed we looked closer.  Bulgaria had it all, border with Turkey, land and housing suitable for our need and best of all EU.

As a young person, my life had always involved animals, I took a course in sixth form Animal Care, Husbandry and Management with the intention to join the police force, either a mounted branch or as a dog handler.  This ambition and career choice got put aside when the opportunity arose to travel to Germany and work as a groom on a private yard where the owners were heavily involved with the southern German show jumping circuit.  Occasionally rubbing shoulders with the likes of Paul and Alvin Schokomoler, I had a great experience.

It is this back ground and our total commitment to the welfare of our family members that instigated the kennels and cattery.  Following our own research of this area of Bulgaria and the quarantine opportunities available to people considering returning to the UK, we felt we are ideally placed to serve the needs not only of the local community taking holidays but also fellow wanderers in need of an alternative solution.
